Wednesday, 28 June 2006, Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Co. Durham

A half-day Transport Case Study Event was held to consider how Robert Fothergill’s ‘Rural Transport Youth Participation Work’ could be taken forward; and explore and agree a process for all the transport commissioners and providers to come together in a more integrated way.

Speakers were:

  • The West Durham Rural Pathfinder
  • ONE, provided a regional perspective on how they are proposing to address transport issues, how they make transport funding decisions and how Pathfinder might be able to influence these.
  • ADAPT shared their Community Transport experiences from Tynedale.
  • Representatives from Durham Dales Transport Integration Project and Du-IT introduced their projects.
  • The Bus Buddies Group set the regional scene for the local Young Peoples project, which was showcased as an example of good practice.

Attendees then broke into workshops to consider:

  1. What else do we need to think about to take the Transport Case Study forward?
  2. What have we heard today that we need to build on?
  3. Who should be involved in the Case Study, and how?
  4. Who is best placed to work with WDRP in leading this Case Study?
